The 14 Day Home Spa

a guide for restoring harmony and balance

Why I needed a spa break.. By Mary Lou Richardson

September 2007

After several tiring months, which included challenges with my teenage son, a decision to move, and getting my house ready to sell, I mentioned to my life coach Tracy that I would love nothing more than two weeks at a spa.  However, the cost of even a spa weekend ($1450 at the Greenbrier, the closest resort) is beyond my current budget and I needed to stay nearby to show my house and supervise my 16-year old.  So a getaway just wasn’t in the cards.

Then, a light bulb moment: Why not create a spa experience in my own home? Put everything nonessential on hold for a full 14 days and spend my free time treating myself with the same care and consideration that any fancy resort would? When Tracy noticed my huge sigh of relief as we tossed the idea around, I knew I was onto something.  Now, as I look back on those wonderful two weeks, I enjoyed the process so much and reaped so many benefits that I wanted to share my story with anyone else looking for a full battery recharge.
